India Turns Up the Heat on Pakistan

on

Two weeks after the tragic terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, orchestrated by Pakistan sponsored terrorist groups, India has initiated a series of security preparedness measures. These include nationwide security drills and strategic deployment of armed forces — signalling a firm stance in the face of escalating tensions with Pakistan.

The Indian government has also ramped up diplomatic efforts to isolate already isolated Pakistan on the international stage, pressing for accountability from a regime that, is heavily influenced by terrorism & its military establishment. The challenge remains significant, with concerns that decision-making in Islamabad is increasingly guided by military interests that populates terrorism rather than working for its people or regional stability.

Despite provocations, India has exercised strategic restraint. While refraining from immediate military retaliation, New Delhi has effectively conveyed its red lines through diplomacy, signalling that a threshold exists — and that continued inaction from Islamabad could trigger kinetic responses. India’s posture aims to force global attention on Pakistan’s continued harbouring of terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, demanding the handover of their leaders, Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar, within a defined and narrow window.

For long Pakistan adopted a tactic to use nuclear weapons as shield to avoid direct conflict with India and blackmail global powers but global tolerance for Pakistan is wearing thin, particularly as Pakistan’s internal security continues to erode — with mounting unrest in Balochistan and a resurgent Taliban presence along its western frontier.

Notably, China stands to benefit from a regional conflict, particularly one that destabilizes India’s economic trajectory. Amid shifting global supply chains and the impact of Western tariffs on Chinese exports, any disruption in India’s investment environment could serve Beijing’s strategic interests — both economically and militarily, especially along the contested Line of Actual Control. Most prominent reason because of which India has restrained itself so far from attacking Pakistan but now the time is running out for the rogue nation.

India’s current security posture is not merely defensive but serves as a message to the international community: perpetrators of terrorism will no longer be shielded by geography or political ambiguity. The burden now lies with global powers to compel Pakistan to act decisively against terrorism originating from its soil.

Should Pakistan fail to comply, India may feel compelled to take direct military action — a move that could have lasting implications for the region. The fragmentation of Pakistan, long speculated in strategic circles, could become a reality if internal dissent and external pressures continue to converge.

In the interest of people of Pakistan and to avert a wrath of India, it is imperative that Pakistan’s leadership acts with urgency and responsibility. The immediate dismantling of terror infrastructure, handing of terrorist to India and giving up illegally occupied Kashmir is the only viable path to peace.
